Kathy Self | Community & Collaboration
I was raised in California in a family that honored the Lord and also appreciated creativity. As an adult I have lived in Belgium, Washington DC, Oregon, Missouri, California, and Colorado.
My paintings have been shown in juried shows in California, Missouri, New Jersey, and Colorado. I have also exhibited my work in seminaries, churches, galleries, and conferences that highlight the arts. My art can be found in private collections across the United States. I have created commissioned art for non-profit organizations private businesses, and for a local television program (in San Jose, CA).
In addition to my studio art, I was an art docent in public schools for 6 years, taught privately for 10 years, including teaching art to children in the Family Violence Shelter in Springfield, Missouri. I have designed and helped to create collaborative art projects for church communities in California, Kansas, Tennessee, Missouri, and Virginia. This also includes multiple presentations to educate local churches about the value of visual art. Recently I did 4 art history presentations for PayPal as part of their employee enrichment program, and also gave a presentation of the history of Christian art for a class at Colorado Christian University.

Beauty
Visual art is a way for me to bring beauty to those around me.
Growth
It is an essential form of compassion; just as we need food to fuel our physical bodies, we need beauty to nurture the growth of our souls.
Healing
Sometimes the growth is cathartic as art helps us to define our pain and sorrow, and then directs us toward the hope of healing our soul's wounds.
Your new art is waiting.
