2021 Our first “in-person” artist panel talk was held at Fellowship Denver church titled ‘Vocation & Artists”
By definition today, vocation is considered a strong feeling of suitability for a particular career or occupation. As a Christian this goes beyond the worldly view of this definition of vocation to include God’s calling on one’s life and our life’s work as a vocation.
Most do not know that the word “vocation” originally referred to the “call by God” to divine devotion of one’s gifts and talents. At first as clergy, then the concept opened to a way of life, where Christian vocation includes the use of one's gifts in their profession, family life, church and civic commitments for the sake of the greater common good.
Jeff Haanen from the Denver Institute of Faith & Work engaged Christos artists and guest artists in a Q&A conversation on how we are to embrace our callings to foster an impactful vocation with our lives and artistic practice.

There are about 95,000 refugees in Thailand. Most of them live in camps. Gerda teaches art in many of the locations. Her The Heart & Soul project is a way of showing the refugees they are not alone. Small art cards with hearts on them were sent to the project from around the world. On the back of each card were words of encouragement.
